Other than the obvious, wearing them everyday and not being precious about how dirty they get, what you keep in the pockets and worrying about what they will look like in the future.
From early on, infact within the first week lines and creases will begin to form which will remain for the life of the jeans.
In this case is all about the washing. A hot machine wash with ample detergent will bring the highest contrast, in the wear marks. the more detergent the better considering you haven’t washed jeans in a number of years.
Then its time to start breaking in another pair!
